Welcome to a whole new world

Embarking on parenthood can be a bit like trying to find your way in a new town with no map and no guide. It’s an exciting and joyful time with lots to discover, but it can be bewildering and scary at times too.Together with Busylizzy Cheltenham, we want to help you navigate this incredible journey as best we can.Cheltenham is a wonderful place to start a family. In fact, in 2015 Cheltenham was listed by the Telegraph as the number one place in the UK to raise a family. Lynn Simmonds of Hamptons International said: “Excellent schooling, low crime rates, a thriving sporting culture and a bustling town centre all make Cheltenham a natural place for families with children.” It doesn’t really come as any surprise therefore, to find out that lots of families relocate to Cheltenham to have their babies and settle down. Luckily, Cheltenham has an plethora of groups, classes and services ready to help support you through your pregnancy and then postnatally.
To help you prepare for your new arrival, we wanted to create an event to introduce some of the incredible things on offer in our area. Through talks and tasters, we are aiming to give you an overview of what you can expect both during your pregnancy and birth, and once your baby arrives. As well as trying classes and learning from local experts, you will have the chance to meet other parents in the same boat and begin to find your village. When your baby first arrives, heading out to new places and meeting new people can feel overwhelming, so by enabling you to make connections before you have your little one in tow, we hope to relieve some of that anxiety. There will be time to chat with other parents and ask our experts any questions you may have while you enjoy free tea, coffee and homemade cake.

Dr Kylie Foster

Dr Kylie Foster is a prenatal and paediactric specialised chiropractor. This essentially means that she looks after babies both when they are inside the womb and beyond, as well as helping with he typical back pain, neck pain and headaches that adults can struggle with. Most pregnant women find themselves battling through poor energy and sleep issues as well as hip, back and groin discomfort. Dr Kylie will be joining us for a talk on Prenatal Stress: How it affects our babies and how we can combat it. With the current Covid situation affecting many areas of maternity care, it is no surprise that pregnant people are suffering more with stress and anxiety than usual. Dr Kylie will be offering reassurance and information to help you combat those negative thoughts and regain control over your stress levels so you can prepare yourself for birth both physically and emotionally.

Lottie Keble-Wyatt

Lottie is one of two directors of Cheltenham Wellbeing Festival, a mum to two gorgeous girls and has buckets of experience working in the health and fitness industry. During the afternoon she will talk you through some fitness dos and don’ts for pregnancy and postnatally, enabling both you and your baby to stay fit and well. She’ll then take us through a postural connect and flow taster session.

Beccy Angove - Beautiful Birth Club

Beccy Angove aims to help parents prepare for a birth experience that’s positive, not perfect, using the Calm Birth School Hypnobirthing method. She believes that every birthing person deserves to look back on the day they birthed their baby with “feelings of pride, strength [and] empowerment.”

Beccy is based in Stroud and offers Hypnobirthing sessions across the Cotswolds including Cirencester, Gloucester and Cheltenham. Through her sessions you will learn techniques that will help you feel and be more in control during your labour and birth – techniques that you can take with you through the rest of your lfe to help you cope with challanging situations.

Beccy will be leading a 20 minute relaxation session, introducing you to some of the techniques used in Hypnobirthing and giving you some tips for calming any anxiety around your pregnancy and birth.

Faye Czajkowski-Davis - Motherhood in Mind

Faye Czajkowski- Davis is the founder of Motherhood in Mind. She uses her 16 years of experience as a mum of three, a midwife, therapist and coach to work with mums and mums-to-be wherever they are on their journey of motherhood.

One of the key elements of the Motherhood Society are our Self-care Sessions. At least once a month we invite an expert in to pamper, educate or instruct you in something creative. One of our most popular visting experts is without a doubt the Holistic Hideout.

Natasha Greening has more than 15 years experience in the beauty industry. Formerly the Spa Manager for Clarins, she says “I noticed many of my clients found it hard to juggle work, family life, working long hours and have minimal time to look after themselves. I created The Hideout to make treatments more convenient and personal, with the same 5* spa experience”. As a mother herself, she understands the issues that pregnancy, feeding and lifting small people can cause. The Holistic Hideout is so popular that Natasha now has multiple therapists, and we are delighted to be joined by Poppy.

A 15 minute massage is an additional £10, so please select your preferred time when booking your tickets. Bare in mind that some slots may overlap with other talks or tasters, so please be mindful of what is a priority to you.
